Football is clearly America’s game, but the NFL can’t touch soccer when it comes to the global stage. Just look at the social media followings of the two sports. The NFL’s 30 most valuable teams have 60 million Facebook FB +4.18% fans and Twitter followers combined. Spanish soccer powerhouse Barcelona has 61 million all by itself.
Messi and Neymar have already begun what looks like the making of a great partnership. The 2 South American stars joined the likes of Dani Alves, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Mascherano and Eric Abidal, just to name a few, for a couple of matches between Messi and friends.
It’s official Neymar has been presented by Barcelona and will begin playing with Messi after the Confederations Cup in Brazil. The Brazilian star signed a five-year contract with the Catalan club. In the infamous words of TO. “Get Your Popcorn Ready” Let’s hope he lives up to the hype???
